General Updates
CA-SFEC Annual Strategic Planning
In late February, the CA-SFEC team gathered for their annual in-person consortium meeting at the University of Irvine. This meeting allowed consortium members to focus on key areas where CA-SFEC can have a lasting impact in the field of family engagement. Our commitment to this mission is stronger than ever.
A major takeaway from the gathering was the consortium, along with PIQE’s CEO, Gloria, reaffirming their commitment to repositioning CA-SFEC beyond the current administration funding policies. We are excited about the future of CA-SFEC and how it will continue to support critical areas of family engagement in education.

The CA-SFEC Strategic Framework For Family Engagement
Our Vision
The CA-SFEC envisions a California where every student is supported by strong family-school partnerships that promote educational excellence and equity. We aim to make California a national model for family engagement, expanding opportunities and resources for culturally responsive learning, particularly in underserved communities.

Engaging Families

Family Tech Summit
In February CA-SFEC co-sponsored a Family Tech Summit focused on the correlation of digital equity and family engagement. Parents of the CA-SFEC advisory committee and PIQE’s parent ambassadors joined the summit to answer questions around navigating technology and strengthening digital inclusion. More than 200 parents from all over California came together to learn more about digital access in education!

Annual Parent Summit
Shortly after, in March, CA-SFEC co-sponsored a Family Summit at Riverbank Unified School District. This annual Parent Summit included CA-SFEC & the Modesto PIQE team to share with parents the importance of family engagement and parent leadership. This annual Parent Summit was a collaboration between the CA-SFEC and the Modesto PIQE team. During this summit, we shared with parents the importance of family engagement and parent leadership.
The summit aimed to celebrate student success while providing valuable information from community resources and education-focused speakers. Director of Family Engagement Dr. Nunez-Pineda presented on the importance of Family Leadership and its direct connection to student academic success.

New Family Engagement Pilot Programs
We’re excited to announce the launch of two new family engagement pilot programs! Family Math Together and Growing Together Transitional Kindergarten (TK). The Growing Together TK program was piloted in collaboration with the Cesar Chavez Foundation (CCF).

Family Math Together
The Family Math Together program is designed to build parents’ skills and confidence in supporting their students’ critical thinking and understanding of math.

Growing Together TK
The Growing Together TK program in collaboration with CCF takes a dual approach, providing training for both parents and teachers to help support TK students’ success.

Building Practitioner Capacity
Workshop For Educators
CA-SFEC was able to sponsor a Family Engagement workshop for educators in partnership with Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) in Bakersfield. This event helped educators strengthen school-family partnerships, build trust, and enhance student success. Participants were left with practical tools and strategies to foster more inclusive learning environments. Don’t miss out—reach out to us for more details or to get involved!

Connecting And Supporting The Field

Together For Every Child's Success
Family engagement is a cornerstone of thriving communities and student success. When families, schools, and communities work hand in hand, children benefit in countless ways, from higher achievement to stronger emotional well-being. That’s why it’s critical to uplift and support the field of family engagement with the tools, resources, and relationships it deserves.
As this project grows, we aim to foster a vibrant network of connections highlighting the power and importance of strong family-school partnerships. By working together, we can strengthen the impact of family engagement and ensure every child has the support they need to thrive.
Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved!
